You may wonder what all the fuss is about, but launching a new website is not something that one takes as, "hey, I am going to totally revamp the website." I wish it were that easy, but it isn't. As we thought about how we were going to do this, several requirements surfaced that we thought were very important: (1) the website had to be easily used with a smart phone or a tablet, (2) the design has to be clean, sleek, and easy to navigate, and (3) it has to be something that makes people want to keep coming back.
Our old website was all of that and more when we first went live with it three years ago, but as all things change and morph, so do websites and peoples' tastes. I guess what I am saying is that it was time for an update and that is what we did.
As you take a tour of the new site you will notice that the main navigation bar is on the left when you look at it on a desktop or a laptop. When you look at it on a smart phone or a tablet, the blue navigation bar is on the top and says "show menu." What this does is keep the text large enough so that you don't have to squint or resize it with your fingers and I know you know what I mean...I am constantly making the text bigger so that I can read it...and no cracks about needing reading glasses. What this means is that the new layout is mobile ready and mobile responsive.
Want the inside scoop on what is happening with TF Dagger? We will be making many more updates with our new "TFD News" tab. When we make an update, something exciting happens, or we do an event, we will give you the inside scoop on it and also post photos. So ..."how do I know when something new is posted to the 'TFD News' tab"? The answer is it will post automatically to your twitter, FaceBook or even to your email inbox. If you are following TFD on twitter, facebook or google+; you will get a notification with the link that you can access from that social media type. If you want it to be emailed to you, click on the envelope (see the image below and the envelope is on the far right)
and sign up to receive emails. It is the "canned spam" law that makes us do it that way. Don't believe me? Go ahead and google CAN SPAM Act...
If you want to see photos from our events, just click on the flickr link. We will post all of our photos on both flickr and also on facebook.
I hope that you all like the new layout and that it helps you feel connected to what we are doing. Remember, our sole purpose is to support our USASOC Soldiers and their Families - bottom line, no matter what. We hope that you will continue to support us in the future.
Til next time....
